Why I read simple books in English (添削後編)
"Richard Scarry's Best Storybook Ever!" used 12,000
words in English.
(I couted using a counter at the 百均 shop!)

I used textbook in English when I was a student from
junior high until high school.
That was almost 50,000 words in six years!

"Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" had almost
77,000 words.
If a book in Japanese, I can read it a few times.
I thought about what I had done in six years.
Most Japanese people study to translate English to
Japanese in school.
I didn't like that style because it wasn't interested
for me.
So gradually I started to dislike studying English.
I thought I didin't mind if I could never understand
English in my life.
I remembered my teacher said
「あなた、英語は全く駄目ね。」.

If I didin't like English, Why would I read simple books
in English?

I've liked to reading books in Japanese since I was
three years.
Some of my favorite books were "Anne of Green
Gables" and "The Little House in the Big Woods"
in Japanese.
I read them again and again.
I enjoyed to imagine a world of stories,
but "Little House"series was changed by a Japanese
translater on the way.
Pa and Ma were translated 「とうさんとかあさん」 ,
but it was changed to 「とうちゃんとかあちゃん」 !
I hated it and quit reading.

I've started to read simple books in English four
years ago.
I wanted to read my favorite childhood books in
only English.
Now I enjoy to reading simple books in English everyday.
Of course, I don't translate English to Japanese when
I read a books in English.

I think reading is easier than writing in English.
I didin't start to write in English because I had to write
collectly English, but I quit thinking about it.

My journal's corrections and comments are as important
as my books in English.
